In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.

Everyone is welcome at the Pueblo de Abiquiu Library & Cultural Center (PALCC). We strive to be a safe community space. As a show of respect to our staff and guests, and to provide an appropriate environment , the following policies are in place:

  • No offensive, abusive, boisterous, harassing, or noisy action or language will be tolerated. The use of profanity is prohibited.

  • Any type of harassment (including physical, sexual or verbal abuse of guests or staff) is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.

  • No abuse, destruction or theft of Library materials, collection, facilities, furniture, or equipment. There is no unauthorized removal of library books or property.

  • Possessing, selling, or the use of alcohol or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited, as is entering the Library while visibly under the influence.

  • There is a No Smoking Policy in place inside the Library. Smoking is permitted outside for those 18 and older. Please use designated butt cans to dispose of cigarettes. Smoking includes use of eCigs, Vapor or any tobacco products.

  • Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited.

  • There is no unauthorized use of the Library’s computer network. The Library’s Internet Access and Use Policy must be followed. Using the Library computers to view, display, or distribute obscene images, inappropriate content, or engaging in cybercrimes violates library policy and can result in permanently blocked internet privileges.

  • Young children must be supervised and never left unattended.

  • The safety of our staff and guests is our highest priority.

  • Engaging in any activity in violation of federal, state, or local laws is strictly prohibited.

  • If a juvenile is causing a disruption and is interfering with patrons or staff, a parent or guardian will be called immediately. Staff have the right to intervene in order to prevent injury to the juvenile, others or to prevent damage to property.

  • If at any time, a guest or staff member feels that someone’s behavior is a threat to their safety, a staff member can contact law enforcement immediately.

Refusing to follow reasonable directions by a staff member, or cooperate with these established policies will constitute grounds for immediate removal from the Library and possible discontinuance of library services. Persons entering or refusing to leave the Library, or who are banned will be charged with trespassing which could result in an arrest or be subject to other legal action.

Attendance and participation at Library programs and events constitutes a consent to be photographed. If you do not want to be photographed, please inform a staff member immediately. Names of individuals will not be used in photo captions unless special permission is given.
