“I‘ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life - and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.” Georgia O’Keeffe

Georgia O’Keeffe

The world renowned artist, Georgia O’Keeffe, visited Abiquiú in 1931 for the first time. Two decades later, she called it home. She lived in Abiquiú and also up the road at Ghost Ranch. Ms. O’Keeffe and her art was inspired by her surroundings and the landscape of northern New Mexico. Aside from her extraordinary talent and contributions to modern art, Ms. O’Keeffe supported the Abiquiú community. She funded the Abiquiú gym behind the Santo Tomas Church and she was instrumental in the building of the Abiquiú Elementary School. We are honored and grateful for her contributions.
